A reality public television show about students taking action in their community is focusing attention on bringing green jobs and clean energy to San Bernardino County and the region.
The Ambassadors, currently airing at 5 p.m. Sundays on KVCR public television, chronicles the efforts of 12 regional high school students who compete in a series of challenges designed to spark positive change in their community.
Local episodes were filmed at Cal State San Bernardino, KVCR studios, the Art Institute of California and Rialto High School.
"The Ambassadors" is a collaborative project of the Green Valley Initiative, a regional project of the Green Institute for Village Empowerment that is designed to promote clean and green industries, create jobs and realize a higher quality of life in Inland Southern California.
In the series, the students from John F. Kennedy Middle College High School in Norco compete for a $50,000 college scholarship by finding solutions to environmental problems in the Inland Empire, such as traffic congestion, transportation, air pollution and water conservation. The contestants compete in a series of challenges that result in two finalists for the scholarship. During a live televised episode on June 21, the audience will be invited to text in their votes for a scholarship winner.
